How To Make Body Wash Easy 4 Step Guide

Body Wash-Making: An Easy 4-Step A Guide

Posted on July 1, 2024July 1, 2024 by At Home With Joanna

Most of us buy body wash from the store. This got us thinking, what if there was a way to make it at home? Well, there is. What makes this even better? It only requires a few ingredients! (Unlike the mountains of compounds you read on most product ingredient labels).

The process is fairly easy. Here’s what to do:

1. Gather Your Ingredients

The first step is to gather the ingredients you need. Naturally, this will vary based on the type of body wash you want to make. In general, the soap should consist of:

    • Liquid Castile Soap
    • Carrier Oil
    • Essential Oil
    • Distilled Water
    • Honey (optional)

    2. Measure And Mix

The next step is to measure out the ingredients into the right portions. Adding too much of one and not enough of another will result in a substandard experience in the shower.

You want to have equal parts honey, liquid castile soap, and carrier oil. Then, you should add the water until the consistency is what you want. Most modern body washes are quite thick, but some brands prefer to thin their products with water to give them the consistency their customers demand.

How much essential oil you add is up to you. If you’re creating a cup’s worth of base body wash, 10 to 20 drops should be all you need. You can scale how much you use in line with the quantity of mixture you want to create.

Once you add everything to the bowl, mix it well. Keep stirring until all of the lumps disappear.

Your goal should be to distribute the essential oil evenly throughout the mixture. Keep going until everything looks like it is a single blob.

      3. Add More Water

At this point, if the mixture still seems too thick, add additional water. Do so one teaspoon at a time- do not add all the water in one go. If you get the ratio wrong, it will thin the body wash too much and you won’t be able to use it.  Keep adding water until the thickness reaches the desired consistency.

        4. Put The Product Into A Bottle With Packaging

Lastly, pour the finished body wash into a bottle and keep it in a box or other packaging. Add stickers with your branding and the ingredients if you plan to sell it to the public. If this is your plan, create labels that indicate the ingredients you used and any relevant instructions. For example, shake the mixture well before use. This action will help blend all the ingredients and prevent any irregularities that might harm the product’s effectiveness.

How To Make Your Body Wash Even Better

Following the above method will give you a perfectly passable body wash. However, if you want to make your creation even better, there are other things you can do.

You can also try using a recycled soap dispenser for your body wash. These are made of plastic from various sources, ground into tiny particles, and formed into new products.

For a more luxurious feel, swap out the water for aloe gel. This will change the consistency and aroma of the body wash.

Lastly, you could add some coffee grounds to the mix. These will provide exfoliating benefits!

It may take a bit of trial and error, especially at the beginning. With time, you’ll be thrilled that you tried this DIY Body Wash idea!
