Doing a Deep Clean of Your Home? Don’t Forget These Areas!

Posted on January 10, 2020May 26, 2022 by At Home With Joanna

Your home goes through a lot throughout the year! There’s all kinds of dirt and grime introduced to it on a daily basis, and even when you’re someone who cleans on a regular basis, some parts of your home get more attention than others. So let’s try and change that by doing a deep clean!

There is nothing better than having a clean home. It provides peace and serenity in your life. It allows you to breathe easier knowing you are living in clean, healthy and beautiful surroundings.

If you’re about to conduct a big clean of your home, (including some seasonal chores rather than just the weekly type), we’ve compiled a list to ensure you’re not forgetting about any crucial areas. Feel free to go through it and add some notes down on your own list!

While Doing A Deep Clean of Your…

Closets and Cupboards

Make sure you delve into your closets and cupboards. You’ll want to make sure there’s no build-up of dust and other fibers in there. Also, be sure all of your clothes and towels, are clean and dry.

You don’t want anything you own to be feeling and smelling musty! It might even be worth it to get an air freshener installed in there, to keep the air fresh and nice to catch a whiff of.

Windows and Doors

Windows and doors are portals into and out of your home. They deserve a good cleaning from time to time! Your doors and windows might just be a little dirtier than you first realize; a build-up of mud from the outside, alongside general grime brought down by dirty rainwater, or even bugs nests and the like.

How many spiders do you see crowding around your kitchen windows? It might be time to do something about them! Depending on where you live, make sure the spiders you see aren’t dangerous to get near to. Then, grab a wet cloth and wrap it around a broom head. Wipe it up and down the outsides of the window or door, and get it deep into the corners.

Don’t Forget to Watch Out for Pests in the Woodworks!

Of course, there’s always the possibility that you’ve got some pests living in your home, completely free of charge. It’s not something we want to imagine. However, as responsible homeowners who want to keep our homes clean and healthy, it’s something we have to face!

There could be flies or moths trapped in the bathroom, or there could be a wasp nest in the attic. There could even be ants just outside your front door. Make sure you keep an eye out for debris like nest material, and never discount a single ant just running about your kitchen floor as a fluke.

You can always get in touch with a termite removal service if need be. This is an especially good idea if you discover signs that suggest your wooden ceiling beams or closet shelves may be infested.

Cleaning out your home properly requires a lot of dedication and time. Keep these points in mind as you go about your tasks to ensure nothing nasty is left over!
