Meatloaf

Delicious Meatloaf Recipe

Posted on November 5, 2018April 22, 2022 by At Home With Joanna

This has been my favorite meatloaf recipe ever since I was a young girl.  I altered the original recipe by adding bacon and the melted cheese in the center, but if you want to keep those ingredients out, it is equally as delicious as a regular meatloaf.

There are various ways you can make it, so it’s truly up to you and your preferences.  Previous times, I have wrapped the meatloaf with the bacon, but I got better results by chopping it and putting it in the meatloaf.

This is the perfect comfort food to have with the colder weather coming.

Any leftovers can be heated up at a later time, but nothing is better than meatloaf sandwiches!

Delicious Meatloaf Recipe

Ingredients

Meatloaf

1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef

3/4 cup grated cheddar cheese

3 eggs

1/2 cup milk

3/4 cup instant rice

4 slices of bacon, diced

1 onion, finely chopped

1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

1 cup grated cheese of your choice

1/4 tsp. pepper

Sauce

14 oz can tomato sauce

1/2 cup ketchup

2 tsp. sugar

1/2 tsp. dry mustard

2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Combine all of the ingredients for the meatloaf, with the exception of 1 cup of extra cheese.

Combine all of the ingredients for the sauce; mix well.  Take 1/2 cup of the sauce and add it to the meatloaf.

Spread half of the meatloaf mixture in a bread pan.

Sprinkle the remaining cheese in the middle of the meatloaf, leaving room along the sides.

Add the rest of the meatloaf on top, and spread evenly.

Bake for 1 1/2 hours, but keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t burn.

Heat up the rest of the sauce and serve with the meatloaf.

Garnish with parsley, or allow some more grated cheese to melt on top.

Enjoy!
