Recipe for Granny's Peanut Butter Cookies

Granny’s Peanut Butter Cookies Recipe

Posted on February 15, 2026February 15, 2026 by At Home With Joanna

While this recipe isn’t originally my Granny’s, it is the recipe that she would often make with us while we were visiting. Or, they would sometimes be in the care packages she would send us. Therefore, they will always be “Granny’s Cookies” to me. (Special recognition does go to Nan’s sister Carole, of course!)

Now that I am lucky enough to have so many of the recipes that she passed down, I feel especially grateful to have this recipe written in her own handwriting. The recipe card includes a bit of where the recipe originates from, which I will share here:

I know that this makes the recipe feel even more special to me alone and it won’t have the same effect on you. However, if you’re missing your Grandma or someone else who you were close with, go cook/bake something that reminds you of them. If such a dish doesn’t exist, borrow this recipe and bake away! I think my Granny would love knowing that other people are baking something that she had enjoyed making for us.

It’s almost as though I can hear my Granny telling me the ingredients and steps in her voice. I speak more about baking with my Granny in my Lemon Meringue recipe post. These cookies aren’t anything “out of the ordinary” but they are meaningful and I think that is what makes them taste even better. (The chocolate rosebuds/Hershey kisses make them more delicious too).

Granny’s Peanut Butter Cookies

(36- 40 Cookies)

Ingredients

2 cups Crunchy Peanut Butter
2 cups Sifted Icing Sugar
2 Eggs
About 36-40 Chocolate Rosebud Candies/Hershey Kisses (Both of which, are perfect for Valentine’s Day)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375F.

Cream peanut butter with icing sugar.

Beat in eggs.

Form batter into 1-inch balls.

Place on cookie sheets that are buttered or lined with parchment paper.

Flatten balls so that they are about 2 inches wide.

Bake for 10-12 minutes. The bottoms may get a bit dark but you don’t want the entire cookie to burn!

Place chocolate bud or kiss in centre.

Allow to cool if you can resist eating them.

Enjoy!
