How to Clean and Organize Your Kitchen For the Best Results

Posted on January 8, 2022May 4, 2022 by At Home With Joanna

When you think about the kitchen, what comes to mind? Cooking and eating delicious food? Family gatherings? A place where your friends can come over and chat? That sounds about right. Unfortunately, for many people today, the kitchen is also a place of stress. Let’s be honest, do you regularly organize your kitchen? Do you have the perfect setup?

You might find yourself running around trying to make everything perfect when it’s time for dinner. If this sounds like you, then read on! We have compiled some tips that will help you organize your kitchen. This will also make cooking an enjoyable experience again. Decluttering your home, in general, is crucial to living a happier life.

Declutter Countertops

If you have a lot of appliances and tools on your countertops, it can make cooking difficult. If possible, store these items in cabinets or drawers, so they are out of the way when using the stove. Also, test all of the equipment to ensure that everything works properly. If something isn’t working and cannot be fixed, it’s time for it to go.

Next, check your pantry for any expired ingredients, or food that should be thrown out. You will find this very helpful later on if you need something from there while prepping food. All that you’ll need will be easily accessible without having to dig through a bunch of things. More importantly, you’ll know it’s still useful while also being safe to use! For example, baking powder expires after about six months. Wondering why your cake batter won’t rise? Go check the date on the baking powder.

Store Kitchen Items Efficiently

There are a few ways you can store your kitchen items so that they’re easily accessible when you need them. As mentioned earlier, one way is to use cabinets and drawers; this will help declutter your countertops. Another option is to use shelves, but make sure everything has its own designated spot on the shelf. If not, it will become cluttered very quickly. Finally, if there’s not enough storage space in your kitchen, consider getting some baskets or bins. This way, you can hide away all of the clutter and create a more streamlined look.

Organize Your Pantry

The pantry is often one of the most challenging areas to organize in the kitchen. It can become cluttered very quickly if you’re not careful! One way to combat this is by using baskets or bins to store your items. Another option is to use labels to know what’s in each container without having to open it. This will save you time when looking for something specific, such as a particular type of flour or sugar.

If your pantry is cluttered and there’s no room for anything else, consider getting rid of some of the food that’s taking up space. For example, you don’t need ten different types of cereal – pick your favorites and donate the rest to a local food bank.

Create a Cleaning Schedule

One of the best ways to keep your kitchen clean is by creating a cleaning schedule. You’ll know exactly what needs to be done regularly, and it will help prevent any build-up of dirt or grime. A good rule of thumb is to clean as you go – this means wiping down countertops and appliances after each use.  You can also consider professional dryer vent cleaning, as keeping them clean is imperative to keep your air clean and healthy.

You should also try to do one big clean-up once a week. You know what that means! Break out the vacuum cleaner, mop, and all of your other cleaning supplies, and give everything a good scrub! Doing a regular clean-up daily and tidying up as you cook, is obviously better than allowing things to accumulate. However, some items may only need to be deep cleaned every once in a while, like your oven. Always be sure to read through the manuals for major appliances to keep them running smoothly and safely.

A clean and organized kitchen will make cooking easier and give you peace of mind knowing that everything is in its proper place. Try implementing some (or all) of these tips today for a more efficient space. You should now feel great about where you cook, eat, and spend time with family!
