Netflix Hack for Thousands of Secret Categories

Netflix Hack for Thousands of Secret Categories

Firstly, as an ex Netflix Addict, I want to say that I don’t know if I am really behind on this news or not.  Secondly, (the more embarrassing confession), I don’t know WHY I’m still subscribed to getting Cosmopolitan Magazine links in my Facebook Feed.

I honestly think it’s just because there are so many hilarious “advice” pieces. If I’m extremely bored and need to laugh, I know exactly where to go to read something absolutely ridiculous.  In any case, this may be the only good piece of information Cosmo has ever given me.

According to The Atlantic, there were 76,897 “altgenres” available on Netflix as of 2014.

How do you access these genres?

According to Gizmodo, the trick only works if you’re watching Netflix through your web browser.

When you do, you’ll notice the URL is something like  netflix.com/browse/genre/10757.  All you have to do, is change the digits at the end of the link and you will find a new genre!

For a list of all the links and the numbers that correspond to them, you can use this website.  (I found that an error message sometimes pops up, but if you refresh it once or twice, it goes through and works like a charm).

Have you been using this hack yet?

Do you notice films you would not have noticed otherwise?

Let me know in the comments below or find me on Facebook!

Happy Netflixing!
