Importance of Social Media

The Importance of Social Media

The Importance of Social Media

When I started blogging about four years ago, it was simply a hobby and the importance of social media was a bit new to me.  Sure, I grew up using websites like MySpace and Facebook, but I never used them as a source of income.

It was only a few years later, when I realized that my site was being seen by people globally.  Thanks to WordPress (any beginner using WP needs to look at this website), I was able to see a map of where the views were coming from, and the view count of each post.  More importantly, I was able to see where the clicks were being referred from.

Why is that important?

When you are able to see how people have found your site, you can assess which social media outlets are worth spending your time on.  It also lets you know which areas you have to work on in order to get more traffic.

For example, I had used Pinterest since before I even had a website.  When I started blogging, I would share my posts on Pinterest, just because I thought any publicity would help me.  However, my photos were not professional, and I did not know how to optimize using that outlet.  Even so, according to my stats, I was getting a few views thanks to Pinterest.  It taught me that if I wanted to get even more views, it was something I had to learn more about.  It all comes down to wanting to maximize your website’s potential to grow your business.

Overall, once I committed myself to growing my website, I wanted to learn as much as I could to maximize the traffic it was getting.  This learning process is a never ending one, and I am learning more each day.  Just like using SEO properly, social media plays a major role in how much traffic you get.

“I don’t have time to do the research.”

Let’s be honest, there are millions of websites out there and if you are debating whether or not to start your own, you have your doubts.  You may be thinking, “How will anyone find my site among all of the other ones?”, or “I don’t have enough hours in a day to learn all of this on my own.”

Those thoughts are completely legitimate.  If that is the case, and you don’t have the time to do it all on your own, just know that you are not alone.  There are people and businesses who are here to help you.  Whether it is to help you get more traffic, or take care of your social media presence for you- they can help.

That is exactly what Twenty West Media can do to help you, your website and your business.  Whether you are new to having a website, or a veteran, they have a team of professionals ready to work hard to get you the results you want.
