The Etiquette Of Wearing Sunglasses For Men

Posted on September 19, 2020June 13, 2022 by At Home With Joanna

When it comes to sunglasses for men, there is an etiquette that should be followed. It’s more than the type of sunglasses you wear! This etiquette is even more vital when wearing sunglasses during business hours. It is important to maintain a professional appearance at all times.

We’re not saying that not wearing sunglasses will make you instantly uptight! We just want to ensure that you’re aware of some unwritten rules. They are now, no longer unwritten! Some of the essential aspects of the etiquette are the following:

Remove Them For Introductions & Meetings

When you meet someone for the first time, it is always a good idea to look them straight in the eye. It’s also recommended to give them the opportunity to do the same. Removing your sunglasses during introductions and during meetings is simply a sign of respect. This allows the participants to look at each other directly; increasing the level of trust. It’s a form of having good manners.

Look After Your Sunglasses

You will want to take care of your sunglasses to keep them in excellent condition. It’s important to take care of them in order to reduce the chance of them getting scratched or scuffed. You can find many high-quality and a wide variety of men’s aviator sunglasses online at affordable prices. There is no need to spend too much money. However, this is also a good chance to purchase items for the care of your glasses. For example, a protective case to keep them in when not wearing them. Or, what we consider to be a must-have, a soft microfiber cloth to clean the lenses.

Take Them Off Indoors & At Night

We have all seen people wearing sunglasses when it is dark indoors, and sometimes, even at night. If you are going indoors, or it is night- take the glasses off. You may see people staring at you when you wear them. For the most part, we’re sorry to say, it is not because they think you look cool. Take your glasses off when you go indoors and store them safely. When it is dark outside, leave them at home, in your car, or in a purse/bag.

If In Doubt, Take Them Off

Do you find yourself in a situation in which you are not sure if you should remove your sunglasses? In this case, the best thing to do, is to take them off. Sunglasses are an excellent aid for dealing with the bright sun, but they are a barrier that gets in the way with communicating. It is made even worse when someone is wearing oversized sunglasses. Due to how these usually cover the eyebrows, it can be even harder to assess the reactions of the sunglass wearer accurately.

Make Sure You Wear The Correct Pair Of Sunglasses

Another vital factor when it comes to the etiquette of sunglasses for men is making sure you wear a pair that reflects your personality. They should also suit the shape of your face. Finding the most suitable shape glasses is not that difficult. You can get plenty of information on the subject by going to various references online.
