The Essential Guide To Industrial Interiors

Posted on November 1, 2019June 13, 2022 by At Home With Joanna

If you think that you need to own a New York loft-style apartment in order to pull off the industrial look, think again! Anyone can pull off trendy industrial interiors. It doesn’t matter whether you live in a newly built condo or a more aged property, either. You don’t have to allow the year your home was built to dictate the decor for your home. Take a look at this essential guide and have a go at adding some industrial style into your dwelling.

Go Minimalist

Industrial interiors tend to be very light on the clutter. They exude the feeling of space and enjoy mixing textures and materials to create a tactile interior. Consider painting the walls white, adding some cladding, or exposing some of the brickwork within your pad. If you are after a fresh cladding look, head to Dekko to see the lightweight concrete varieties they can install. By using natural and manmade materials, you are creating that loft apartment-style vibe in whatever home you currently live in.

Clear the clutter as much as possible. This means fewer bookcases full of knick-knacks and more clear wall space. Add some street art or local black and white photography. Whip up some amazing canvases and enjoy the feeling of space and natural light within your living spaces.

Choose Metal

Wooden cladding, exposed brick, and edgy vintage furniture are a great start. Next, you can add some metal pieces. Metal and chrome effect lamps can look stark and industrial against a white wall for a background.

Reclamation yards are ideal places to pick up some authentic old pieces that once resided in a factory. Think old-school lamps and lighting. You might even be able to pick up old metal workbenches to fashion into a dining table.

Consider purchasing some stainless steel splashbacks for your kitchen! Or, go the whole nine yards and choose a steel sink to wash up your dishes. You may even want to explore the world of upcycled furniture. For example, where metal has been paired with wooden tabletops. They come together to create new pieces of furniture for those with unique tastes.

Upcycling

Aren’t sure how to accessorize your newly streamlined interior? Look to the mid-century to source some cool and one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture. Even, if you aren’t keen on the Danish tile-topped coffee tables. You can still purchase a piece from a great Scandinavian designer- you know the one. Then, add your own flair to it by getting it refurbished.

Plenty of people now specialize in creating new furniture from older examples like those at Etsy. You might even want to have a go at it, yourself. You could experiment with welding, wood carving or decoupage to create your perfect unique pieces of furniture.

A modern and industrial look doesn’t have to be difficult to create. It also, shouldn’t break the bank. Follow these helpful, simple tips, and enjoy honing your new minimalist style.
