Wedding Outfit Ideas

Posted on November 15, 2019June 13, 2022 by At Home With Joanna

When invited to a wedding, thoughts usually turn to what gift to bring and your wedding outfit. When you’re a parent, it’s not so easy to just pick something in the wardrobe or the local High Street. There are many considerations that need to be made.

This includes, will the children ruin your chosen wedding outfit before you even leave the house? We all know that children love to explore, and they tend to do that with messy hands. Finding an outfit that you feel comfortable in while being confident that it won’t get ruined before the big day can be tricky. Here are some practical ideas and thoughts about wedding guest fashion. We hope they take the pressure off the big day, even if it’s just a little bit.

Types of Dresses

Wearing a dress is not a requirement, of course. Sometimes it’s just nice to take advantage of an occasion and wear something a bit more glamorous than usual. When searching for the perfect dress, there are a few general things to look out for. Such as being a good fit, it should not be white, and it should be flattering for your unique body type. Luckily, we have plenty of options to look at online, and with mail-orders, we can try them on and send them back without too much trouble.

The options of dress styles are endless. There are prom dress style options, cocktail dresses, basic skater style dresses, and even 1950’s styles. Everyone has their own particular preferences, but the main thing to do? Make sure that you are comfortable! This is even more important if your children are coming to the wedding with you.

Something Different

Instead of wearing something you would usually be drawn to, why not with something completely different? Choose something different from what you would normally wear, or different from what would be expected at a wedding party. It’s 2022; there are many eclectic styles available to us and several unique fashion trends appearing on the scene.

Although, you don’t have to look as though you’ve walked straight out of London fashion week. It’s nice to take some of the influences and mix them into your style where possible. A nod towards the current large designers can’t be a bad thing. Using their different styles and textures is a great way of getting inspiration for your outfit. Quite often, past trends come back around and that can be said of wedding guest fashion. Velvet dresses and satin slip dresses have been seen several times throughout various points in history. Why not go for this vintage style?

Dress Up

Sometimes we just do not have the time or the energy to go buy a new outfit. Look at what you already have in your wardrobe! Adding a few touches to an existing outfit to spruce it up, will give you some freedom. Not only do you know the outfit is comfortable, but you will be able to enjoy the event guilt-free. You won’t be worrying about how much money you spent on new clothing. A few extra pieces of jewelry and a nice jacket can really improve an outfit.

At the end of the day, the couple has invited YOU to their wedding, not your outfit. As long as you feel comfortable with what you are wearing, it is respectable, and you feel good about yourself in the outfit, then enjoy the event without any worries.
